Troubleshooting and FAQ's
Issues with gateway time-outs
If;
- You're seeing a Gateway time-out error
- You're seeing a 403 forbidden error
- You're seeing a Not authorized to access error
- You're seeing a "too many redirects" issue
...then that means the server your desktop site's on is blocking one of our bots from pulling data from the desktop site.
To fix this issue, we recommend asking your website administrator to whitelist our bot's user-agent. This is the user-agent our bot uses:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8
That should prevent this problem.
Alternative solutions
If your administrator is unable to allow our bots to access the content of your site, there are two further courses of action we can recommend:
- Upgrade your site to our responsive website builder
Our responsive website builder is a stand alone platform that doesn't rely on a separate website instance to function. You can upgrade your site to a responsive one and enjoy several other new features as well. - Turn off auto sync
You can do this in your mobile site editor by pressing gear icon -> site settings -> auto-sync OFF. This can sometimes allow the site to load, though it will never again sync with the desktop site and may be subject to other future irregularities based on this behavior. - Build a site from scratch
You can recreate the site from one of our site from scratch templates. Making a site from one of these templates means it has nothing to sync to, and so is not subject to this error.
Too many redirects error
While this might be an issue related to server security, it may also be exactly what it sounds like - There are too many redirects on your desktop site which is causing our bot to return this error.
Please contact your webmaster to inspect the site and locate any redirects that might be causing this issue.
